Research Study Validates Cybercamps Model

A recent research study has found that Cybercamps’ unique instructional model that
combines computer-based learning, peer-to-peer support, problem-solving, and instructor mentoring actually improves higher-order thinking skills in children. The study grouped kids who did not participate in a Cybercamps program and compared them to those who did. The students who went through the program demonstrated significantly higher performance scores on their standardized tests, and in their ability to problem solve, communicate, and think critically.

It’s important to note that not all computer-based education programs produce these results. It is a combination of Cybercamps’ unique teaching and learning model that generates these outcomes. For more information about the Cybercamps program, please visit www.cybercamps.com.

One question parents often ask about computer-based learning is, “How much does my child really learn while working at the computer?” Well, if they’re working on Giant Campus courses, the answer is, ‘A Whole Lot!’

If you’ve got some passion for Cybercamps, we’ve got a place for you! Parents can get directly involved with Cybercamps in four ways. However, if you feel you have something to offer the campers through some other means, please let us know!

  1. Parent Advisory Committee: Serve as a year-round advisor for the Cybercamps program. Offer input on program, courses, locations, materials – all areas of feedback are welcome and the Parent Advisory Committee may split into subgroups depending on individual passions.
  2. Parent Marketing Committee: Help decide what “Refer-a-Friend” incentives will be offered, assist the marketing team with input and ideas or local marketing contacts and PR, and offer overall feedback on the messaging you see coming from us.
  3. Parents participation on Camper Committee: We are looking for a few parents in each region to supervise the online chats for our newly forming Camper Committees. (Do you know a camper that might be interested in being on such a committee?)
  4. Parent Panel Guests at Staff Training: This spring we will be asking local parents to visit our Area Staff Training to sit on a panel and answer staff questions about parent expectations at camp.

To get involved in one of these committees please contact our Kerry Flaherty, KerryF@Cybercamps.com or call (888)904-2267 ext 131.
